Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Shady employer

I work for a multi-national privately owned company based in Houston. I travel for my work, both in the US and overseas. My appointment letter clearly states that I will receive expense reimbursements that are work related (flights, hotels, etc.) to that tune they owe me almost $16,000.00. To that they also offered me a bonus system that they have never payed on and that is $35,000.00. I actually live in South Dakota and manage engineers in India. Question #1 would my appointment letter be considered a contract since there is no end date. #2 should I be able to go to the Texas workforce commission for the non payment of the expenses and bonus pay or would I have to go to court for this. Since I live in SD would I be eligible for unemployment in either state?

Re: Shady employer

If the employer will not pay, you must go to Court to collect. But have you made written demand/request for payment specifying what you are owed and why??if so, and if in demand form you should be able to sue in Texas and collect amount owed, interest and attorney fees....and perhaps in South Dakota ..since you live there and probably have enforceable contract there..but you could definitely sue in Texas. Without a court order obviously yoou cannot make the employer pay.
