Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Ok here is the situation. Two associates, working for a large retail chain in Texas, find out that one of the managers is fraternizing with associates and has even provided alcohol to under age associates. The two that found out about it inform management of it and are asked to fill out witness statements. A few days later the store manager interviews one of the witnesses and tells her she needs to rewrite her statement and to leave certain parts out because they are hearsay. He also instructs her to sign it with the old date from her original statement. Is this legal? He clearly seams to be trying to cover it up.
