Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas
Terminated because of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
I worked for a major retailer for 13 years, 6 of which were at the director level. Two months after disclosing that I was being treated for Generalized anxiety disorder I was separated from the company because ''they no longer had confidence in my abilities as a strategic leader''. This contradicted an outside consulting firms evaluation that personally named me as a strategic asset of the company only 6 months before. I had received a good performance review and a 10% bonus for performance 3 months before separation. Is this a violation under the ADA or some other employment law?

Re: Terminated because of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Yes. If the company terminated you due to a perceived disability, you have a viable cause of action under the American with Disability Act.
