Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Unjustly discharged

On July 31, 2001 I went into work very sick. I tried to work feeling so badly, but as the morning progressed, i became sicker. My boss didn't seem to care one way or the other and so I ended up leaving work and going home. I also went to a doctor and he told me not to go back until Aug. 3. I was feeling better on the 1st and decided to return to work. When I walked in my boss handed me my check and asked for the keys. She never gave me a chance to tell her I had a doctor's excuse or even a warning the day before that if I left she would discharge me. I have been an excellent employee and feel I have been unjustly discharged because she was angry with me? Do I have any legal claims for this? Thank you

Re: Unjustly discharged

Unfortunately, unless you have an employment contract or can show you were discharged because of your race, age, gender, disability or some additional classification protected at law, you can generally be discharged in Texas for any reason or no reason at all. It does not matter if you have been a terrific employee, or have a good excuse.
