Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Vacation and Sick time

I work at AIG Annuity I requested to take a vacation day for January 11, 2007. Two people with senority already were approved for the day off, therefore I was not. I explained to my manager if I would have known two people had already been approved to take the 11th off I wouldn't have requested it and just used a sick day instead. I was upfront and honest because i don't like to lie, my manager called me a lair because I would call in not being sick so that I could still take off on the 11th. I explained I was upfront and honest from the beginning. When i was denied the request my manager asked if i wanted to take off another day, i responded no that i would take an event/write up because i had already made hotel arrangements and its important that i be there. She said from know on i have to have a doctors note for when i call in sick because i said i would call in and not really be sick. Is this right i'm on cymbalta and zanex for stress i don't have to go to the doctor everytime i feel bad sometimes im just too stressed. What can i do i feel im being treated unfairly and being judged for saying i would call in sick and not be sick, when its none of there business and no questions would have been asked if i would have just called

Re: Vacation and Sick time

Unfortunately you do not understand that employers give employees a benefit of "sick" days and when an employee announces they will use sick days for other reasons...employers rightfully consider them untrustworthy...No I do not beleive you could win any claim against the employer now..
