Vacation Time

I currently work as an in home child care provider and when I received my new contract some things had changed. In the past I was given x number of vacation days to be used by the end of the year. My new contract states that I have x number of days to be used when the family is away or does not need me. Furthermore, if I wish to take any time off I must work extra overtime to earn that time off. Can they legally do this?
