Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Work Required Doctors Visit

I recently called in sick for work as I was basically not feeling well, and since I work around food my employers like their employees to err on the side of caution when not feeling well. When I called in to tell them I would be absent I was told that I had to go visit the doctor and bring them back a note stating I didn't have swine flu before I was able to return to work. It seemed rather overkill to me and I had to find a walk in clinic and they had to do blood work just to tell me what I already knew, that I was fine. Regardless of that, I had to pay 50 dollars out of pocket for the doctors visit and I was told by at least 3 people that if an employer requires you to see a doctor then by law they have to pay for it, is this true? I would like to know so they can reimburse me for wasting my time and spending money I couldn't afford to spend.
