Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Wrongful Termination

I have worked for a large home building company for the past 19 years. I have moved within this company from the local divisions to the regional division to the corporate division and am now back in one of the local divisions due to the re-structuring of the company. I am a VP of Construction and have never ever had a bad review or evaluation in my career. When I returned back to the Local Division I started working for someone I mentored years ago and thought I had a good relationship with. With the building business being in the situation it is in right now clearly his job has gotten alot tougher which has raised his stress lever. 3 weeks ago another division of the company came to our division and did an unflattering report of our division and felt like I was being underutilized in my current role. My boss took this as ''questioning his authority'' and fired me. I had nothing to do with this report and was not even present for any of it. The reason given for my termination was ''We just don't see things the same''. I have been offered a 6 month severance package but I feel like the only reason I was fired is because this guy got pissed off. Should I sign this package or due I have any kind of case. Thank you.

Re: Wrongful Termination

If you were the "mentor" it could be you have an age discrimination case..but if you had no contract, have no union...and it sounds like you were in managment..other than age, it seems no protections...but talk to a competent employment lawyer...as members of the American Association for Justice lawyers, cormerly ATLA..Trial lawyers of Texas...we could refer you to someone competent...
