amending the contract
Is it ok for the landlord to add
amendments to the contract after
signing the original contract and lived in
the house for a couple of months?

Read the lease. Is there a provision for the landlord to make changes with notice to you? If not, or if there provision does not apply to the changes he is making; then no, he cannot unilaterally change the terms of the lease.
