apartment rights
my apartment has been without heat or air for months. rent is paid on time every month. maintainence is horrible and it is a brand new apartment!

First, call City Code Enforcement in the city where you live. Second, send a letter to the landlord, requesting the repairs be made. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested. keep a copy of the letter. Seven days is considered to be a reasonable time for repairs to be made. If they are not made, then you have the choice of terminating the lease or suing the landlord for damages. You should locate an attorney who handles residential landlord tenant matters in your area.
