Apt fire ... Tenent Rights no ins had loss
3 wks ago, had a fire in kitchen. stove caused kitchen fire. upon movin in, prop. mngmt was told about stove and fridge. fridge ws replaced not stove. 3 wks gone by nothing has been fixed except air ducts (spke w/owner he had them do that, owner ws very cooperative). I paid someone to clean the walls of all the soot. every week i ask what is happenning and i get the run around, person no longer here need to speak with someone else she is out sick, office manager says we hve nothing here as to what were damages (the one handling it no longer worked there) ins. agent came out, maintenance came out supposedly disconnected large section of kitchen to avoid future problems till fixed (yesterday found out it was still live) wires handing above stove where range hood was. Ins agent for owner stated i would be reimbursed for my damages (i had no ins) nothing happened for 2 wks. went to the office, was told prop. mngr has issues with owner. thats not my problem, my problem is living in a apt i pay rent for that has several code violations and no one is taking care of dmage but lost items including food but money the day of the fire (work out of house taking sales calls) evryday no stove eating out. what do i do? can i ask for ins.reprt?

They don't take you serious until you put it in writing. Make your complaints in writing, send it certified mail, return receipt requested. Call Dallas City Code Enforcement about the repair issues. If neither works, hire a lawyer.
