Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

breaking an apartment lease

My son is in his first yr. of college and had to lease an apartment because the university doesn't have enough housing. He wants to transfer to another college. We are not happy with some of the actions of the apartment managers. Is there anyway to break the lease? If he and his roommate just move out what can they do?

Re: breaking an apartment lease

No they can't just move out, without consequences. Talk to the landlord, see if they will negotiate with you. If they leave without making arrangements, in writing, with the landlord, they risk being sued, and risk being unable to rent another apartment somewhere else.
