broken window

two days ago, all of sudden the glasses on balcony door was broken with 'pop' sound. the glassess are two layer, only inside one was broken ( it's tempered glass). I did not do anything with it..(of course, the landlord don't believe me.) I told them the glass might have defect in the firtst place.

anyway they don't believe me, they trying to charge me for the glasses.

Please help me. and since I'm not American I speak broken English, and they misunderstood me somewhat.

If the glass broke due to an act of God and through no fault of your own then you should not have to pay for the glasses.
