Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
cancelling lease
My husband was asked to resign from his job. We need to move back to Ohio for us both to get jobs and leave our daughter with family during the day. We have lived at our complex for three months. We have two years left on the lease. Is there any law anywhere that would allow us to break our lease?

Re: cancelling lease
The short and correct answer is "no." You will be breaking the lease; under most leases you will be responsible for a re-letting fee and rent until the time the apartment is re-let. The apartment complex does have duty to try to re-let the apartment but until they are able to do so, you are responsible for the rent.
