Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
criminal background
What is the stand of the state of texas in regards to criminal convictions in the ability to rent an apartment? Can someone be denied housing based on a conviction, no matter what the type and is this allowed under the Federal Fair Housing Act?

Re: criminal background
It is not a violation of any law that I am aware of to deny renting an apartment based on a criminal conviction, nor is it a civil rights violation. A prospective landlord has every right to deny an apartment based on a criminal conviction.
