Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
My now ex-wife asked me to move out of our house that we were leasing a year ago when we were still married. She continued to live there until recently when the lease was up. The homeowner now wants me to pay for unpaid rent that she never paid. I was giving her money every month after I moved out. Am I responsible for her unpaid balance even though she forced me to move out? Carlos-San Antonio, Texas

Contractually, you are probably liable for the unpaid rent (I haven't seen your lease, but I can guess what's in it). However, if I were you, I wouldn't pay it. It is unlikely that the landlord will sue you.
