Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
Home buying with roomate
I am looking to buy a home in the near future. My current girlfriend and I are thinking of living together, we do not currently. The loan and papers will be solely in my name (she has bad credit). I was planning on doing this before we met. We are planning to split the monthly costs 50/50. If we move in and later break up will I owe her money? I want to know If I should save some of what she pays me.

Re: Home buying with roomate
Do this the smart way, and save yourself a headache (and a great deal of money) later down the road. Pay a lawyer to put your agreement regarding the expenses in writing. Conceivably she could claim that you are common-law married, and she owns half of the house (since acquired after 'marriage').
Your attorney can explain the various ramifications, including her being your tenant.
