how many hours do you have to spend living in a home to be considerd a resident?

I can only tell you what is required for "residency" as that term is used in the law.
A person is a resident in a location where that person lives and intends to reside. In other words you live at the location and you intend to make that location your residence.
You should consult an attorney for an in-depth analysis of your situation.
