Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

My husband divorced his first wife in the late 60's or early 70's. They have a 44 year old son together. After their divorce, she was absent from their son's live until about 15 years ago. My husband reunited them because their son was about to have his first child. She moved in with my husband in his apartment using the spare bedroom. She got in trouble with the apartment complex and almost had my husband evicted...she was told she could not be on the property or they would evict my husband. She returned to California. Two years later I moved here (Texas) and we moved into our own apartment. She had left all of her belongings and my husband never heard from her again until about 4 weeks ago (13 years after abandoning her things). She is demanding her belongings. When we moved into our own apartment in 2003 we got rid of her stuff. We had no way of getting in touch with her and didn't even know if she was alive. My husband's son had said at the time that he hadn't heard from her at all. Can she take legal action against us after all these years of no contact?

She can try but how will she prove you had her stuff ever? No lawyer would help her with this case and it certainly would not be accepted as a criminal case.
