Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
Landlords and tenants
What if I move out before the lease ends without giving notice and abandon an apartment? Will the amount not collected turn into a judgement that will be removed from the credit report after 7 years like the unpaid amounts left on mortgages after foreclosures?

Re: Landlords and tenants
Not necessarily. Judgments can be renewed many times over. Also, the judgment creditor may commence post-judgment discovery in order to obtain information on your assets. The judgment creditor may findout your bank account number and garnish amounts on deposit. There are several hypotheticals that may or may not apply, but of course, nothing has happened just yet so my crystal ball is a little fuzzy.
It is advisable that you meet with an attorney to review your lease agreement, discuss the full details of the situation, and then obtain a complete opinion as to your rights or obligations. Best of luck.
