Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
lease agreement
I leased an apartment in Austin, Texas yesterday (July 21). The lease is for 10 months. Is there a grace period from the date I sign the lease that allows me to get out of the lease agreement without penalty? Thus far I have only sent the $200 security deposit and have not contributed anything in rent. I have not moved into the apartment yet and will not move in until August 1. I have heard that you are allowed three business days to get out of a lease without penalty in Illinois, but do not know what the rules are in Texas. Thank you for your assistance.

Re: lease agreement
Once you sign the lease you are bound by the lease. The three day right to rescind is a big myth. There is no such general right in contracts.
