Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Lease Agreement - Living Together

My boyfriend & I live together & just rewnewed the lease on our apartment. Now he is wanting to end the relationship. This is his idea, not mine. What are my rights regarding the lease agreement, since this is his idea to break off the relationship & leave the apartment? Please advise. Thank you.

Re: Lease Agreement - Living Together

If you are both on the lease, then you are both bound by the terms of the lease, probably jointly and severally. This means that you are both liable for the full amount of the rent. Talk to the landlord, and see if there is a viable resolution for you. In all likelihood, you both need to start looking for a substitute roommate, and you need to impress upon him the need for him to continue paying his part of the rent in the interim.
