Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
Lease
We have a lease that is not up til June 30th. We have complained abuot ants and roaches several times a month since we have lived here (May 2008). They have not fixed it yet. We also have a heating condition (a lack of) in our bedrooms and they have not fixed that either. Is there a way for us to break our lease without penalty.

Re: Lease
The lease determines who is responsible for these isues. It probably states that the bug problem is yours to resolve. The heating issue may be one which renders the house uninhabitable. If so, and you properly follow the procedures listed in the Texas Property Code, you may be able to break the lease. Review the Attorney General website on landlord tenant repairs for more direction.
