Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
We left a apartment complex because the unsanitary conditions they had. We wanted to do the things right because the credit is important for us.
we pay the releting fee, and even a month rent extra because they said that they were going to re rent the apartment. What they are doing is not showing the apartment since we have still liability till february 2010. the main reason we left was rats, and the pool was empty for the last 4 months including all summer.
and also tha pool had green water in the botton for months
and the last thing and the worse it happend the last 2 weeks before we move out was a sewer line was open to the parking lot and it was like that with feces and toilet paper all around the parking lot it was like that even the day we move out they finally fix it after we left.
botton line we don't want to be liable for the rest of the lease since the reasons why we left were those that I just explained.
If somebody can give me an advice. please I can not afford my new place and keep paying them, and I don't want to hurt my credit.

It is hard to answer your question without reviewing your old lease. It sounds like the old apartment complex may have breached their lease with you by failing to provide liveable premises, which damaged you by forcing you to leave the premises and incur a new rental obligation.. You need to hire a lawyer to review your case. Show the attorney any documentation you have of the broken sewer line and other complaints you have.
