Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

I have been asked to provide a copy of my social security card and my drivers license for apartment rental. In today's age of epidemic identity theft is this reqired by Texas law and if it is required is the personal information required to be kept under lock and key???

Yes it is legal to request this information as proof of your identity. Ask the management what safeguards are in place to protect your personal information.
