Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
I lived in an apartment complex for 18 months. I paid a $200 deposit. Whenever my lease was up and I was moving out I made sure to clean the apartment. The apartment was left in good condition with just some normal wear from me living there. I recently received a letter in the mail from the apartment complex saying there are keeping my $200 deposit and want me to pay an additional $560 to pay for a carpet replacement. I called and attempted to work it out but they are still demanding that I pay for the carpet to be replaced. The carpet was fine when I moved out, I don't agree with this. What should I do?

Sue them in Small Claims court. Unfortunately, the filing fee (including the service fee) is $110.00.
