Misdemeanors in Background Checks

Is it legal for tenants to deny residency based on two or less misdemeanors? If so, is it standard/common practice?

Yes it is legal, and it is fairly common. Talk with a lawyer in your area, and see if these charges qualify you for an Order of Non Disclosure.
