Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Mold in my apartment

I've been living in an apartment for less than a year and discovered that there is quite a bit of mold within the the walls of the bathroom and bedroom (which is adjacent). My wife has been experiencing severe headaches since we moved in. One of the neighbors told me that the last tenant moved out complaining about the same thing. I have tried to talk to the landlord about it, but he keeps denying that it's a problem. What can I do? thanks.

First complain in writing, CMRRR. If not addressed satisfactorily, then get the apartment tested by an expert at your expense. If it is a hazard, then notify the landlord in writing CMRRR. If still not resolved, then you can move out according to the terms of your lease. Review the Texas Attorney General's website which has helpful guidelines.
