Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

A month after signing my lease for a year. I got a note on my door that they were charging a $30.00 surcharge,. They asked for me to go by and sign the agreement on the $30.00. I never did sign anything and still paid the rent and the extra $30.00. Is this legal?

Look at your lease, and see if it authorizes the landlord to tack on "surcharges" whenever he feels like it. Unless it does, you don't have to pay a "surcharge." If there's a conflict about it, you can sue them for deceptive trade practices.
