Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
Okay, there are three people that signed a lease that started July 1st, 2010 and goes through July 31st 2011. One roommate skipped town and completely moved out, and he only paid for 3 months. He has avoided text messages and phone calls and I believe I have found where he is. The other roommate and I are looking to sue him for the rest of the rent he owes. How do we start the process of the law suit and what court do we need to go to? Is the small claims court? That guy we are suing lives in Houston, TX and we live in Bryan, TX. Thanks in advance for your help!

Your lawsuit is probably a waste of time. If you win, you'll probably never collect the money.
However:
You pick the court based on the amount you're suing for. You will probably be in Justice Court.
You'll file in the county where the lease was signed.
