Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
Personal Property siezed by apartment complex
I am 3 weeks late on my rent but did communicate w/complex and we made a financial agreement but when I was at work they came in and siezed all my electronics and changed my locks. I then called them and they gave me a new key. I am not evicted but they are holding my property ''hostage''. Are they allowed to do this w/o a warrant?

Surprisingly, Texas law provides for this landlord remedy, which should be spelled out in your lease. There are certain measures which they have to take to exercise the remedy, and you can check with the Attorney General's website, which provides a primer on the basics of landlord/tenant issues.
