If may property gets damaged while in a storage facility, do storage companies have insurance to protect themselves from lawsuits?

Most likely they will. In addtion to insurance there will usually be a contract with provisions in it to minimize liablity and damages. For example, there may be a provision that photographs will be value at the cost of the paper they are printed on.

You need an attorney to review the insurance policy and contract as well as the facts of your case. Sometimes the owners of the storage faciliyt will be located in another state which could result in the case being removed to federal court.
