Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
I received a call from a collection agency from an apartment that I moved from. There was never any contact from the apartment complex informing me of any outstanding balances and now it's on my credit report. The collection agent says that if I try to talk to the apartment that I will simply be referred back to them. Do I have any form of recourse? I was sure to take pictures of the apartment before I left. I was only there for 3 months, I didn't even have any furniture in the bedroom and they charged me $200 to clean the carpet in there.

What happened to your security deposit? Was it returned to you? Did they notify you of the deduction for carpet cleaning? You may need to seek recourse in JP court to recover your money plus damages against the apartment complex.
