Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Reletting Fee

My husband and I recently moved to VA (in June). We moved out of our apartment in the middle of May and we did give 60 day notice as requested in the lease. We were charged a reletting fee. The move out notice we signed stated that this move out was approved and we would be released from the lease. However, every month since May, we have received a bill from the apartment complex with a note stating that the market is slow and that is why they have failed to re-rent our apartment. Our lease runs out Oct 31st. Are we still obligated to be charged the reletting fee or can we deduct that from October's rent since they failed to re-rent the apartment????

Re: Reletting Fee

You are obligated to pay whatever the move out notice indicates, which you signed and, apparently, agreed to, for each and every month until the apartment is rented to a new tenant or until the date your lease expires, whichever comes first.
