Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

rent

I am moving from my apartment due to work. Is it true that I can break lease without paying if I have a letter stating that I am moving across country for work? We told the landlord on the third that we are leaving so they are making us pay for next months rent instead of letting us out of lease.

Re: rent

Moving is not normally a viable defense for breaching a contract. If you are the unusual one with such a provision in your lease, then follow the terms of your lease. Otherwise, if the landlord is letting you out of the lease with only one month rent, then you are lucky.
