Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Rental Contract Agreement Date

I signed a rental contract with my landlord for one year. After expiration of that date on my contract no written or verbal agreement was made. Is this contract considered still binding if the tenant lives on the property another year without signing or establishing a new lease agreement between the tenant and landlord? I lived on the proprty for another year and now my previous landlord wants to sue me in civil court for back owed rent that is not correct in the amount she claims owed. THANK YO

Re: Rental Contract Agreement Date

The previous written lease agreement still controls. It probably has a provision for holdover and and increase in rent. Have you gotten any notices from them of raising your rent? That would be enforceable.
