Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
I am renting a condo in San Antonio, Tx from an Attorney in Watauga, Tx and my central air conditioning went out on Sunday and as soon as possible I called an ac to come out Monday morning. Gave me a bid, called the Landlord who asked me to get 2 more. I called another company, which would charge her a service call and she refused. Another company would give a bid, not an assestment, and now tomorrow, she has a repair person coming to fix the unit. The inside unit is over 20yrs old, and is leaking freon and I've been told the whole inside unit needs to be replaced. What are my rights to having reliable ac and not a temperary fix?

While as a tenant, you have a right to liveable space, which would probably include air conditioning in a climate like San Antonio, I am not sure that the landlord is required to do with a new air conditioner as opposed to a temporary fix. My suggestion is that you keep track of the days that you are without A/C, and propose a reduction in rent based on the days without AC.
