Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Severely Damaged Lease House

85% of the bedroom walls were ripped out, there is no ceiling in almost all the bedrooms, and there is more than 25 feet of live mold which stopped the contractors from continuing claiming a specialist had to 'deal' with the mold. I paid the lease payment for September and the house being completely unlivable, I had not paid for October due to having to find shelter somewhere else. Now the property management wants to sue me after I made repeated requests for repairs by phone and a hand delivered letter. What legal avenues do I have and since they made very little effort to repair the home when rent was paid, do I have some protection? Thanks in advance.

Re: Severely Damaged Lease House

Based upon the conditions you described, you can sue them for a refund, as well as a termination of the lease agreement. You may be entitled to attorney fees and damages, depending upon the circumstances leading up to this situation.
