Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Single Family Residence

Is there any law in Texas regaurding the definition of a single family residence. I have a neighbor that I believe is breaking our subdivision HOA guidelines by moving in their adult son and daughter and their spouses and their kids all onder the same roof. I wanted to know if there is anything regaurding this. Thanks.

Let me start by saying that I don't know the answer to your question. I also don't research questions from this board, since it is essentially a volunteer/freebie.

That said, you may want to read the language in the lawsuits cited in Lawrence v. Texas, found at the Wikipedia site. Wikipedia has its flaws, but this is a fairly exhaustive article.

The original lawsuit focused on Texas sodomy laws, but in my opinion, actually hinged on the definition of family. Following the reasoning of the court, if I was in court, I would safely argue that the single family phrase refers to the nature of the structure, and not the inhabitants.
