Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
There was a small grease fire in my apartment yesterday, i have no problems being liable with the minor damages but the smoke alarms failed to work. My room mates and i only moved in a month ago, and i have to wonder to my self if the detectors were working properly this whole thing could have been avoided. What are my legal rights when it comes to this my thoughts are what if a fire would have happened while we were sleep and the detectors were not working.

I handle landlord tenant issues as I am an Austin Lawyer.
I don't think you have a very good lawsuit in terms of being able to sue for and get money from the apartment complex, but you may be able to prevent having to pay for the damages.
I work on a retainer (billable hour) on this type of case.
