Tenant Help

Hi, I have a landlord in Dallas that has tried to evict me for non payment of rent for a townhome with no a/c, gas leaks, electrical damage, mold, and more. I spent all of my rent money and more trying to fix these issues he refuses to repair. I do want to move but I have nolease and i dont know what to do to protect myself in court. What are my options, if any?

Re: Tenant Help

Do you already have a court date? Do you have proof of your notices to him of the dangerous and uninhabitable conditions? Have you contacted city codes enforcement? You need the codes officer subpoenaed to appear with you. You have remedies, which you can find in the Texas Property Code, Attorney General website or locate a lawyer who will represent you on terms you can afford.

You need to fight the eviction, as the judgment will severely effect your ability to rent in the future.
