we have a verbal agreement to pay rent monthly, landlord has not fixed ac or heater, septic is still broke, and landlord sold our tub. How long do they have to give us before we have to vacate?

That is all controlled and laid out in plain language in the Texas Property Code. Chapter 92 deals with residential leased property. You can find it in a quick google search. Generally, if you are on a month to month rental agreement, to give full notice you need to give 30 days from the day of the month your rent is due. HOWEVER, if you don't have AC/Heat, there is another section in Chapter 92 that allows you to give certain written notices and if your landlord does not repair it, you can leave earlier. Either review it yourself online or talk to a local attorney. The Property Code allows for the landlord to be held responsible for paying for your attorneys fees so I suspect someone around there will help you.
