Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas
My wife and I were living in a rent house, the landlord told us he was going to sell the house, so we needed to look for a new place. The last three months I refused to pay rent to save money to move out and get a new place. The landlord now is wanting to take us to small claims court for unpaid rent. Can he do that since we were asked to move out? What steps if any should I take now?

Absolutely, he can file for an eviction, and sue for the past due, unpaid rent, together with late charges if provided in the lease, as well as his costs.
