Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Texas

20 year old case Never Disposed

Recently I went to get my criminal history background, for a position in a company. I found out that a prostitution charge against me 20 years ago was never disposed. I have never been in trouble for anything, but what can I do about this now? Is this something I can go to jail for 20 years later? No warrants were every issued. I did have an attorne, who later was disbarred. Now I am afriad he may have illgeally taken my file instead of taking the legal route for my innocence.

Re: 20 year old case Never Disposed

You are probably in no danger of going to jail, but the matter should be resolved. One way is for you to review your file in the Clerk of Court's office to see what the final disposition was. If there is no final Judgment or Order, check with an attorney in your town about getting the file completed and your case resolved.
