Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Texas

I am currently employed and I have been searching for a new job. I was approached by my manager and asked if I sent my resume out and am I looking for a new job. The president of the company told her a friend of his called him and informed him that my resume is on his desk. He didn't call for a reference because I never interviewed, I had only sent my resume out 2 days prior. Is this legal?
