could a lawyer continue representing his client even though he knows their guilty? and why

Everyone deserves a legal defense. If you tell your lawyer you are guilty, they are supposed to step down and let you get a new attorney. So if you are guilty, you can't tell your attorney unless you want to have to get a new one.
