Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Texas

Fair Representation

I was involved in a fatal car accident (I was the surviving passenger). I was pinned and had to be taken by airlife for treatment. I had a fractured humorus, metal plate + 10 screw, three fractured ribs, various other injuries. My lawyer painted a ''rosey'' picture (Law suit) when I hired him. The insurance company was eager to settle. They advised they had a substantule policy (1 Million) so not to worry. The children of the driver (my friend who pased away in the accident) hired a seperate attorney. My lawyer just notified by mail that the insurance company paid them 999,999.00 and is only offering me $1000.00? My lawyer now says there is noting else to do? What happened to the rosey payment? What recourse do I have now? The children's laywer has also filed a civil suit against the owner s of the othe vehicle? My laywer has done NOTHING ! Please help me.

Re: Fair Representation

You have the right at any time to retain a new attorney, who should be able to also address any claims you may have against your current attorney. But time is always a factor so you should act soon if you can not resolve all issues with your current attorney.
