Can a non-lawyer provide legal research to licensed attorney's without it being considered practicing law without a license?

Paralegals perform this service frequently. There is no requirement that a legal researcher be a licensed attorney, but not many lawyers will be interested in research by one not highly trained in the area, particularly in E-research such as Lexis/Nexis, etc.
