Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Texas
Mexican Attorney needs license to practice in US.
My wife is a 28 year old attorney from Mexico.
Texas will not let her sit for the bar exam unless she goes back to law school here and graduates.
Obviously, this is less than desirable. It used to be that a visiting attorney from Mexico was mmade a member of the Texas bar on the spot. Her uncle did this fifteen years ago.
The bar associaiton here told us that if she can join another bar, that she could take the MPRE and then be legal to practice law in Texas.
Are there any states that will admit her? She has all of her transcripts and titles and is a member in good standing with the Mexican "bar."
thanks.

I am unaware of any state which has reciprosity with Mexico. The problem is that the school she graduated from is not "accredited" in the US, a requirement for admission in most if not all US states.
