how long after a deth of a love on can one bring action.

i would lkie to know how long can on bring an law sute after a love one dies? how might one get a lawer if one does not live in that state ? if so how can find out if one has a sute? ifell that i do have an actio that shoul be taken aganest the doctor & hosptill.
